Radio Portuense History
Rdio Portuense was founded on September 4, 2014 by three friends (Lus Mesquita, Carvalho Arajo and Carlos Ribeiro) who were passionate about radio and the city of Porto.
Pioneer web-radio in reports of online football matches, it started with small advances, where its first broadcasts were carried out from home, being, today, one of the biggest radio stations in the City of Porto.
Its genesis is related to addressing all topics related to the Invicta city and sports comments.
The radio bug in these three friends came after an experience in another web radio, in Matosinhos.
The first broadcasts of Rdio Portuense were carried out from the home of each of its founders, but they quickly realized that they needed to expand in order to carry out all the ideas and make Rdio different from the other existing web-radios.
It was then that they decided to go out into the streets of Porto, talk to the people of Porto or attend events that took place in the city.
But, before all this, the dream of having their own studio where they could get together to discuss ideas and make programs came up.
There was some demand, but between contacts, the Centro Comercial de Cedofeita showed interest and, after a meeting in which everything was aligned, the Rdio Portuense studio was born, in store 69 of the Centro Comercial de Cedofeita.
This partnership began on April 11, 2015, with the management of the Shopping Center being the sponsors of the radio.
The first major event that Rdio covered was Fantasporto, followed by Eros Porto.
These were the events that allowed Rdio to give its first big boom, because with the presentation of these works, accreditation to attend other events was not denied.
The football reports emerged shortly afterwards, through an opportunity to report on Sport Rio Tinto, under the command of Carvalho Arajo.
However, the objective was to carry out the reports of the Primeira Liga and, for that very reason, the desire arose to cover the classic Boavista-Futebol Clube do Porto, which, thanks to the curriculum and persistence of Rdio Portuense, was possible.
From then on, the football reports for Boavista, for the home games, were in charge of Carvalho Arajo, the comments were made by Lus Mesquita and Carlos Ribeiro made comments to the referee.
Currently, football reports are produced by Futebol Clube do Porto, through Lus Mesquita and David Guimar
