The app displays current water quality data such as electrical conductivity, pH, oxygen content, and water temperature from the water quality measuring stations of Lower Saxony's rivers.
Air temperature is also provided as a meteorological parameter, and turbidity is also recorded at some stations.
The data is generally updated hourly.
The NLWKN (Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal Protection, and Nature Conservation) operates numerous continuously monitored water quality measuring stations in Lower Saxony on rivers in the Weser, Elbe, and Ems catchment areas, as well as on the coastal tributaries to the North Sea.
The purpose of recording various parameters is to register exceptional hydrological or meteorological conditions, as well as accidents, as quickly as possible.
Such events can pose a threat to water use and aquatic communities, requiring rapid response to initiate countermeasures or secure evidence.

The detailed graphics show the temporal development of various water quality parameters from daily curves to annual overviews.
This allows you to identify, for example, the influence of special meteorological events such as dry periods or heavy rainfall on water quality.
